The Bull Ring is Wexford’s main town square and is named after the bull baiting that took place here in the 17th century. It is particularly famous as the place where the first declaration of the Irish Republic was made in 1798, to which a statue in the square is dedicated. The arboretum contains some 4,500 types of shrubs and trees from all around the world and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area. There is also a lake at the arboretum as well as a visitor centre that puts on audiovisual displays and various other exhibitions.

It is also reputedly the place where King Henry II did his penance for ordering the murder of Archbishop Thomas à Becket in 1172.

The heritage tower offers visitors the chance to explore and discover something about the past of the town of Wexford.
