The Holy Trinity Cathedral is Ireland’s oldest Catholic Cathedral, constructed in 1793. It is also the only Baroque Cathedral in Ireland, featuring ten Waterford Crystal chandeliers and a carved pulpit. In 2000 the square near the cathedral was re-named John Roberts Square in honour of the designer who dreamt up the plans for this historic place of worship.

As well as exhibits of gold, silver and crystal from throughout Waterford’s history, it also features a 3D audiovisual sea voyage viewed from the hull of a Viking boat and was named the Irish Museum of the Year for 1999-2000.
