The Garter Lane Arts Centre contains an art gallery, exhibition rooms and artists’ studios and is one of the largest arts centres in all of Ireland. This vibrant centre of art is situated at the heart of Waterford and brings together comedy, music, art, dance, theatre and literature. The Holy Trinity Cathedral is Ireland’s oldest Catholic Cathedral, constructed in 1793. It is also the only Baroque Cathedral in Ireland, featuring ten Waterford Crystal chandeliers and a carved pulpit. In 2000 the square near the cathedral was re-named John Roberts Square in honour of the designer who dreamt up the plans for this historic place of worship.

Lismore Castle in County Waterford is perhaps the most spectacular castle in all of Ireland. Formerly owned by Sir Walter Raleigh, it boasts panoramic views of the Blackwater Valley and the Knockmealdown Mountains. While the castle itself is a private residence, it is located on the outskirts of the beautiful Heritage Town of Lismore.

Reginald's Tower was constructed at the beginning of the 13th century and is the oldest civic urban structure in all of Ireland. It once formed a key part of Waterford’s defences, but through the centuries has also been used as a mint, prison, military store and an exhibition.

The Granary Museum contains many of Waterford’s cultural treasures stretching back to the city’s Viking origins. As well as exhibits of gold, silver and crystal from throughout Waterford’s history, it also features a 3D audiovisual sea voyage viewed from the hull of a Viking boat and was named the Irish Museum of the Year for 1999-2000.
