Founded in the 13th century by Maurice Fitzgerald, Sligo Abbey is notable for containing a wealth of carvings. Inside this Dominican Friary you can find Renaissance and Gothic tomb sculptures as well as Ireland’s only surviving high alter from the 15th century. Guided tours show the nooks and crannies of this striking abbey and they last for around 30 minutes.
