Corracloona Megalithic Tomb

Visitors to Corracloona can see the remains of a megalithic tomb comprising a rectangular chamber and a forecourt. The tomb is unusual as it contains a port hole, through which subsequent burials would have taken place.

This enchanting waterfall was made famous in WB Yeats’ poem ‘The Stolen Child’ and is a beautiful and romantic place on Glencar Lake. The waterfall itself is 50 feet high with water cascading down from on high and the views are splendid.

Parkes Castle is a magnificent 17th century fortified manor house, located on the north side of the Lough Gill Drive. Formerly the stronghold of the O'Rourke clan, it has been beautifully restored and contains many elements of an earlier 12th century defensive structure. Guided tours are available on request and they last around 40 minutes each.
